The report found that demand for fresh water will outstrip supply by 40% by the end of the decade due to unprecedented stress on the world's water systems. The report also found that governments and experts underestimate the amount of water needed for people to have decent lives, with most regions relying on trade for food, clothing, and consumer goods.
